EUROCITIES, International,

is a network of major European cities. Founded in 1986, the network brings together the local governments of more than 120 large cities of over 30 European countries. Eurocities provides a platform for its member cities to share knowledge and ideas, to exchange experiences, to analyse common problems and develop innovative solutions. The network is active across a wide range of policy areas including: economic development and cohesion policy, provision of public services, environment, transport and mobility, employment and social affairs, culture, education, information and knowledge society, governance and international cooperation.

One working group of the social affairs department focuses on research on Access to Health for Undocumented Migrants.

Activities:

·        Networking: By taking part in fora, working groups and projects, Eurocities members have the opportunity to address a wide range of urban issues and challenges.

·        Lobbying: Eurocities contributes to the development and implementation of European policies, legislation and programmes that are relevant for cities. Eurocities works together with the  European Commission, both on the political level and on the technical level. Eurocities also maintains contacts with the Committee of the Regions, the European Parliament and the Member States.

·        Collaboration: Eurocities was one of the main partners in the LIA (Local Integration/Partnership Action) project on innovative actions in the field of integration.

·        Campaigning: Eurocities brings forward its policy priorities by developing Europe-wide campaigns on issues of common concern, such as sustainable mobility and responsible consumption.
