Training in detention centres for returning undocumented migrants
The King William II prision in Tilburg gives training to undocumented migrants that will be expulsed, and are looking for a job by Dutch firms in their counrty of origin. The aim is to facilitate their return. In Ghana, Morrocco, Togo and other countries, undocumented migrants return with a certificate and, if possible, assurance of a job.
The "return" department of the William II prison invented the method itself, and is also paying the programs from its own budget. Since the costs to keep someone in detention run up to 135 Euro a person a day, the prison mangement considers it a valuable investment.
In addition to the programs, there are also other measures to stimulate individual migrants to return: e.g. the prison helps the undocumented migrants to ship their belongings.
All
these measures are taken because prison
staff want to find a concrete workable way to execute the return
program of the government. [volkskrant
