HOW
MANY UNDOCUMENTED MIGRANTS LIVE IN EUROPE?
To
be able to develop effective policies, policy makers need reliable data. This is
also the case for policies regarding irregular migration.
Collecting
data regarding undocumented migrants is however very problematic. It is not
possible to give exact numbers since undocumented migration is by its very
nature uncountable.
PICUM
presents on this page some indications, references made to numbers in recent
research and publications.
We
hope these data can provide a
source of information for current migration policy debates in Europe.

and Social Survey 2004", UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs.
